Catch Red Herring with Nette Radio!
Posted in Blog by Brooke Trout
This week marks the launch of The Red Herring debut album press campaign and you’ll get a chance to hear our first single “The Well” from our EP release this Wednesday on Nette Radio at 6 p.m. online at www.NETTERADIO.com. We’ll be playing this Friday for the Nette for Vet’s Book Drive at The Talking Stick, 1411-C Lincoln (@ California St.), Venice, CA 90291. Admission is a book donation and if you can’t make the show in person you can still watch it live on ustream!
157 of you expressed interest in our Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to complete The Red Herring debut album. Special thanks to Women’s Radio Music Review, NetteRadio Daily Edition and Dockers for helping us spread the word! We were really grateful for all of you who came forward to show support. When we didn’t reach our full goal you found other ways to show the love by coming out to our shows and getting your own Red Herring EP digital download sticker!
The Red Herring’s debut EP features the engineering mastery of Dan Hughley of Crazyville Productions. The four tracks on the EP include “Albert II” – about the first monkey to successfully orbit the Earth only to crash land. “The Well” is like a Pink Floyd sundae with ZZ topping; a blues rock duet with Big Dave and Brooke Trout. The other tracks include the raucous “Mad Tea Party” which is already being compared to songs by Hole, and “Instigate” which has been compared to Suburban Lawns. You can catch our four song release for a $3.99 download on Itunes, CDBaby and several other digital vendors online or come to our next show and get the sticker!
We have moved on to the post production phase of our album after our marathon recording and mixing sessions into the wee hours of the morning at 4th Street Recording studio in October. 4th Street Recording is known for a unique architecture that produces an incredible richness of sound you can hear on the Gold & Platinum records of several artists who have recorded there including The Beach Boys, George Clinton, No Doubt, Fiona Apple, Hoobastank, Incubus and Nelly Furtado. We want to thank recording engineer Sejo Navajas (Cold Blue Rebels, The People’s Party), mixing engineer Denise Barbarita (The Roots, Stevie Wonder), Ray Palen and Kathleen Wirt for all of their hard work and support! We had so much fun with this team and can’t wait for everyone to hear and see the final product!
When foil panties were thrown on stage at our last show we knew we were the real potato. That is, it was a supervillian’s delight down at The Stardust in Downey where we began filming our first music video for our Red Herring original “I Am The Night” with director Carrie Certa and photographer Drea Molina. We had so much fun dancing and rocking out with those of you who joined us for the celebration! Special thanks to Sonia Hernandez and Carlos Lanza for the opportunities!
We have so much to look forward to as we launch our press and radio campaign for our full album release in January! We are excited to announce Ali Kravitz of Full Fathom Designs is creating a line of awesome Red Herring T-Shirts which you will be able to purchase at some of our future events! We also can’t wait to see you at our first appearance on a sketch comedy show! We will be the first featured band to perform for The Late Night Rad News Sketch Show on December 3rd at Bang.Studio 457 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles, CA, 90036 where you can anticipate the reemergence of Big Dave’s mad comedic skilz!
Remember, we are not The Red Herring. The Red Herring is a fish. Thank you for supporting original rock & roll music!
